A Prayer for an End to Violence Against Women

O God
We come to you aware of our own failings
and depending on your guidance.

We pray for women in all countries and cultures
who are battered emotionally, physically, and socially.

We offer thanks that in this time and place we can
declare our opposition to violence against women.

Help us break the silence that supports violence
by failing to call it and name it for what it is –

A violation not only against women
but also against you who made all people
to love, support and cherish one another.

Amen
