| The Tulsa Drillers will step up to the plate on April 8th for the inaugural game at ONEOK Field and begin the 2010 season. This baseball season marks the 7th year that the Tulsa Drillers have partnered with DVIS/Call Rape to turn home runs into hope for local families in crisis with the Knock Out Violence program.
Knock Out Violence is a fundraiser in which supporters of the Tulsa Drillers and friends of DVIS/Call Rape can make a pledge for each home run hit by the team this season. The Tulsa Drillers' success translates into increased funds and awareness for the problem of domestic violence in our community, an issue that affects one in every three Oklahoma women.
We are pleased to announce that DVIS/Call Rape Advisory Board Member Al R.D. Sowards, P.E. and Tulsa Drillers President Chuck Lamson are returning to once again serve as co-chairmen of the program. We will be recognizing our 2010 sponsors at the Knock Out Violence Picnic at ONEOK Field on May 23, 2010 at the 2:05 pm game against the Springfield Cardinals.
Partners of Knock Out Violence make a financial pledge for every home run that is hit by the Tulsa Drillers and all of the proceeds benefit DVIS/Call Rape. In 2009, 107 home runs were hit during the 140 game season, raising more than $52,000. Your one-time donation, pledge per home run or corporate sponsorship will help local families affected by domestic and sexual violence and provide basic needs like safety and shelter for women and children during these challenging times.
