DIRECTOR OF LEGAL SERVICES

SUMMARY OF DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Manage agency legal resources and provide professional direction for the court advocacy program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • Responsible for staying current with trends in family law and domestic violence related criminal law. Advise Executive Director and Associate Director how these trends may affect DVIS/ Call Rape clients.
  • Responsible for supervising Court Advocates, attorneys and other legal staff. Monitoring advocacy and legal activities to provide professional direction for the programs.
  • Responsible for working with Director of Programs and Counseling Services and the Director of Residential Services to facilitate discussion and cooperation between the three programs.
  • Responsible for maintaining familiarity and compliance with all required standards and all grants funding legal staff and advocates.
  • Responsible for keeping all professional licenses in good standing, including fulfilling continuing education requirements.
  • Responsible for operating legal department within budget and for helping establish budget with Finance Director and Associate Director.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Juris Doctorate degree, licensed to practice in Oklahoma and a member in good standing of the Oklahoma Bar Association are required.
  • Previous studies or experience in Psychology or social work is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years experience in client oriented social services or providing legal services to the under-represented is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years experience in a supervisory position is required.
  • Knowledge of Oklahoma family and criminal law, superior research skills - traditional and electronic,
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to communicate,
  • Collaborate and negotiate with a variety of internal and external contacts i.e. media, funding sources, community leaders and the judicial/legal community are required.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver’s license.

MEN’S COUNSELOR

SUMMARY OF DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide professional counseling service for DVIS/Call Rape clients including intake, crisis intervention, and therapy - both individual and group.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for assessing the client’s needs and make informed referrals to other community resources for services not provided by DVIS/Call Rape.
  • Responsible for screening clients and completing intake assessment forms.  
  • Responsible for conducting individual and facilitating group counseling with clients.
  • Responsible maintaining up-to-date and accurate records for each client. Records must be kept according to standards set by the Attorney General, COA guidelines and current professional standards.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling or a related field is preferred
  • Experience in group and individual counseling in the domestic violence field is preferred
  • Some evening work will be required  
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred
